Fully remote roles are more commonly advertised in Germany and Switzerland, while Austria has slightly fewer fully remote options, with more emphasis on hybrid setups. Positions like Data Scientist, Data Engineer, and AI Specialists are at the forefront of remote job offerings in Germany, especially in the fintech, e-commerce, and technology sectors.
Salary Differentials:
Data professionals in fully remote roles across DACH countries tend to enjoy a 5-15% salary premium compared to those working fully on-site. This reflects the growing demand for flexibility and the willingness of employers to compensate for the lack of traditional office presence.
Germany sees the highest salary premiums for remote workers, particularly in cities like Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt, followed by Zurich in Switzerland.
Reasons for Remote Work Preference
In the DACH region, 74% of data professionals cite better work-life balance as the main reason for preferring remote or hybrid roles.
Other factors include reduced commuting (62%) and enhanced productivity (53%).
